Hiking has to be one of my favorite outdoor activities. It’s an easy way to be part of nature, while feeling relaxed and recharged. Not only is it fun and allows you to explore new scenery, it counts as exercise and helps you live a healthy lifestyle.
It’s important to stay fueled with proper nutrition. With a few healthy and cleaning eating hiking snacks, you’ll be set for whatever lies ahead in your outdoor adventures. In this post I’ll highlight Lorissa’s Kitchen Premium Steak Strips for your protein needs.
We recently had the pleasure to visit Yosemite National Park. Living in the Bay Area, it’s a relatively short 4-hour drive away. Having only been a few times in my life, it’s a magical and breath-taking park that should be experienced by all. Besides Half Dome, one of the most well known hikes is Nevada Falls. It’s a roughly 2-mile hike up a mountain that takes you to the top of the falls. There you’ll find an expansive view of most of the park and the river below. Then it’s steep 3+ miles downhill to complete the loop. The entire hike, with a break up top, took about 6 hours.
It’s important to bring plenty of water and food on a hike like this. You want items that won’t weigh you down (literally and figuratively), and are full of nutrients and protein to keep your muscles going. While striving for a healthy lifestyle; wholesome, clean foods and grass fed meats are prefered; the less processed, the better. Besides a few liters of water, I like to bring items such as nuts and fruit (apples, bananas and pears hold up well). This give you healthy complex carbs and fats to keep you going.
You’ll want plenty of protein too. Lorissa’s Kitchen Premium Steak Strips are an easy prep-free snack you can take on any hike. Look for the Korean Barbeque Beef flavor and well as Ginger Teriyaki Chicken Cuts. They’re made with responsibly raised proteins, like 100% grass-fed beef and antibiotic-free chicken. Made with real ingredients and without preservatives, plus they’re gluten free. It’s an easy way to take plenty of protein with you, without having to worry about storing, chilling or prepping. Find them at Kroger and save with the coupon below through 8/29/17.
With these simple clean eating hiking snacks, you’ll save time and have more energy. The last thing you want on a hike is to be hungry or lose steam midway. This will keep you going and able to enjoy the scenery and beneficial experience of the hike.
