What is a michelada?
Micheladas have always been a favorite of mine. We often get them at our favorite Mexican restaurant, as well as enjoy them at home. Recently I shared a recipe for how to make a simple homemade michelada, but this Bloody Mary Michelada takes it to a whole new level. A michelada generally consists of a tomato drink, beer, lime and spices.
Clamato Tomato Cocktail is the most common to mix with beer, and creates the best flavor for a michelada. It’s an authentic tomato cocktail that spices up all your parties and get-togethers. Enjoy it on its own or mixed with other ingredients to make unique cocktails. It can even be used in marinades or sauces.
While basic micheladas are tasty on their own, you’ll be amazed by this Bloody Mary Michelada with bacon swizzle stick garnish. First, rim the edge of a glass with chili salt seasoning. Start with a Clamato, vodka and lime juice base over ice. Mix in remaining ingredients and beer, then garnish with celery and a bacon swizzle stick.
What are bacon swizzle sticks?
This lovely culinary creation is simply twisted bacon cooked to form a chewy, crispy stick to garnish your homemade Bloody Mary Michelada. With Clamato and just a few ingredients, including bacon of course, you’ll have a unique michelada recipe for your next soccer gathering or party.

Bloody Mary Michelada with Bacon Swizzle Stick
Ingredients
- 1 slice bacon
- Chili lime garnishing salt
- 4 ounces Clamato
- 1.5 ounces vodka
- ½ lime, juiced
- ¼ teaspoon horseradish
- ⅛ teaspoon celery salt
- 6 ounces Mexican beer
- 1 stalk celery
Instructions
- Lay a sheet of paper towel on microwave safe plate. Grab each end of bacon and twist multiple times until tight. Holding edges of bacon, place in center of towel diagonally, fold in edges of paper, then roll tightly to seal. Microwave 1 minute 30 seconds or until cooked and crisp. Can cook multiple pieces at a time, just add about 1 minute of extra per piece. Unroll from towel and set aside.
- Rub rim of a large glass with lime juice. Create a thin layer of garnishing salt on a small place and press glass upside down to salt rim.
- Add Clamato, vodka, lime juice, horseradish and celery salt. Stir until well combined. Gently pour in beer, garnish with celery and cooked bacon swizzle stick. Repeat as necessary for additional drinks.
Great recipe, thanks for sharing. I’ll have to try this one out when I get the chance. I’ve been so swamped these days that I’ve only been able to order mine online.
You’re welcome and hope you like it Stacy!
