In an effort to focus on clean, wholesome ingredients I’ve been on the lookout for new products and ingredients. Typically I enjoy cooking from-scratch homemade meals, but frozen meals can be convenient.
Whether you want the convenience of ready-made meals, are low on time, short on ingredients or simply don’t want to cook, frozen dinners can save the day. Recently I tried a range of Sweet Earth vegan and vegetarian dinners and will share my thoughts on each of them.
Sweet Earth Vegan Dinners
General Tso’s Tofu
A sweet and sour sauce over crisp tofu creates a classic Chinese rice dish. This tastes like authentic Chinese take-out, but with wholesome vegan ingredients. Red chiles add spice and broccoli and brown rice balance out this meal. It contains 10 gram of protein and 5 grams of fiber in just a 330 calorie serving.
Made with organic ingredients, this vegan curry is loaded with flavors and is one of my favorites. Curried lentils, broccoli, sweet potato and carrots over brown rice and quinoa, paired with authentic spices such as turmeric, cardamom, and cinnamon. The rich curry sauce is wonderful. It also contains a whopping 14 grams of plant-based protein and 7 grams of fiber per serving.
Vegan Cauliflower Mac
This creamy vegan mac and cheese also contain cauliflower and sweet potatoes for extra complex carbs and fiber. It also contains 8 grams of protein per serving, which is great for a mac and cheese. I enjoyed the flavor and the sweet potatoes added an interesting natural sweetness.
This authentic Korean noodle dish has a sweet and sour combination. A sesame and soy sauce based sauce combined with bell peppers, mushrooms, and basil sits atop yam noodles. It has 11 grams of vegan protein and 5 grams of fiber to help meet the daily recommended fiber intake.
Aloha BBQ Quesadilla
This vegan quesadilla has a smoky, sweet flavor from the BBQ sauce, with the addition of pineapples for fruity sweetness. Pinto beans, peppers, and vegan cheese round it out into a delicious vegan quesadilla.
