What vodka to use for a martini

It’s best to use high-quality vodka in any martini. It constitutes the majority of the cocktail, so a smooth, subtle flavor is best.

Tips for making a martini

  1. Use high-quality alcohol for smooth taste like Wheatley Vodka
  2. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice
  3. Shake vigorously for about 30 seconds, or until the outside of the shaker starts to frost. This will create tiny ice crystals in the drink.
  4. For stronger flavor chill alcohol in the freezer so it dilutes less
  5. Chill the martini glasses ahead of time by placing in the freezer
  6. Garnish the glasses with fine sugar, or in the case of this Peppermint Martini, crushed peppermint

Substitution Suggestions

If you find white chocolate liqueur you can substitute extra vodka and add simple syrup to sweeten the drink.

For dairy-free omit the half and half or substitute with almond milk. For sugar-free or low carb, substitute the white chocolate liqueur with vodka.

Substitute half and half with eggnog for extra sweetness and an even more festive drink.
